Council Valley Museum

Nearest Community: Council Region: Southwestern

This museum highlights the history of Adams County and the Council area. This is one of the best small historical museums in the West! It is located one block south of downtown Council, just across the corner from the Festival site. Adams County developed when gold was discovered in Warren and Florence, and a trail along the Weiser River, through the Council Valley, transported supplies to the mines from the Boise area. Large, inter-tribal Indian gatherings were once held in the Council Valley. The name Council came from these gatherings held in the area because early pioneers believed they were "council" meetings.
